Glen Earl (Buck) Bell, 67, of Sweet Home died at his home Nov. 12, 2007.
He was born at home on Oct. 11, 1940 in Connersville, Ind., to Liness Foisey. He lived in Connersville until 1957, when he moved to La Mesa, Calif. He was in the U.S. Navy from 1958 until 1981 and was stationed in San Diego, Long Beach, Vallejo and Port Chicago in California; in Honolulu, Hawaii; in Yokosuka, Japan; and in Orlando, Fla. He retired off the USS Shasta in Oakland, Calif., on Oct. 30, 1981. After he retired from the Navy he worked with Willamette Valley Rehabilitation Center in Lebanon, running the saw room with 30 disabled adults until he became ill.
Mr. Bell was a 100 percent VA Disabled Veteran, retired as (E7) Chief Petty Officer with 24 years service. He was a 28 year member of the American Legion – Lebanon Post 51, VFW Post # 3437, Sweet Home and AM Vets Post 13 in Sweet Home, Oregon.
He liked to hunt, fish, do leather work and woodwork, and pan for gold. He helped build the altar furnishings of Albany First Assembly of God Church with his father-in-law, Roderick Craven.
Mr. Bell is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharron Diann Craven-Bell of Sweet Home; sister, Juanita L. Watkins and brother-in-law Terrance R. Watkins of Tucson, Ariz.; sister-in-law Karron Harries of Albany; mother-in-law Maxine Craven of Albany; step-mother, Mable Bell Bohmier of Indianapolis, Ind.; nieces and nephews Donita Duncklee of North Pole, Alaska; Teresa McKinnon of Bartelsville, Okla.; Timothy Watkins of Liberty, Mo.; Chere Freeman of Warsaw, Mo.; Walter Glen Watkins of Overland Park, Kan.; Holly G. Harries of Albany; Denise Gardner of Mechanicsville, Md.;, Jodee Ann Divelbless of Lebanon and Amy S. Welling of Albany; and 26 great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father, Liness Bell,; mother, Josephine Geisendorff-Bell-Foisey; brother, Walter Merle Bell and great-great- nephew Daniel.
