Golfers second at home

Sweet Home’s golfers finished tied for second Friday in their own invitational at Mallard Creek Golf Course.

The Huskies shot a 387 team score to finish tied for second with Oakridge, behind Reedsport (359) and ahead of Cottage Grove (392).

Leading Sweet Home were Michael Tolle (94) and Stephen Bishop (95), both of whom finished in the top seven. Gerry Synder of Oakridge was the medalist, shooting 77.

Coach Ken Anderson said conditions were “difficult,” with the scoring reflecting rain, hail and snow showers that fell during the match.

Fnishing in third, behind Sweet Home, was Oakridge (387), followed by Cottage Grove (392), Creswell (441), Bandon (449) and Junction City (475).

The Huskies’ next match will be April 1 at Shadow Hills/Junction City.
