Sweet Home’s golfers had a 13-stroke lead going into the second day of the district tournament Tuesday morning, May 13, at Tokatee on the McKenzie River.
Steven Bishop shot an 81, followed by Michael Tolle (82), Chris Melcher (91) and Bryce Daniels (94) for a team score of 348. Fifth man Brenner Roberts finished with 105. Cottage Grove was second, with La Pine third, 30 strokes back.
The tournament ended after The New Era went to press, but results will be posted at sweethomenews.com. If the Huskies finish in the top two, they will proceed to the state competition in Redmond May 19-20.

In a warm-up for the district meet, the Huskies finished second out of eight teams at the Ken Robinson Memorial at Tokatee on Wednesday, May 7.
Sweet Home scored 361, led by Bishop with an 82 for fourth overall, followed by Tolle (86), Daniels (94) and Roberts (99).
“Brenner shot 17 strokes better than when we were there a month and a half ago,” Davis said. “That’s the kind of thing we’re looking for.”
The Huskies finished behind Oakridge (334), which, Davis predicted, will be one of the top teams in the small schools division.
“Their two best players’ uncle is the teaching pro at the course up there,” Davis said. “But we can play with them. We have a healthy rivalry that, unfortunately, is over.”
