Keith Horn, Scott Gagner and Sam Waller shot 83 to lead the Huskies. Kenny Jones shot an 85 and Matt Zollman had 101.
“This was a good outing for us, scoring one of the best 18 holes of the year,” Coach Tom Horn said. “The kids were a little disappointed in their individual scores but we were happy with our team score. We had very consistent scores from our top four guys.”
Coach Horn said one Lebanon golfer shot a hot 70 or the Huskies could have taken the team win.
“That kid usually shots over 80,” Coach Horn said. “Also, Wilsonville is one of the top 3A teams in the state.”
April 3 he Huskies shot a 170 to win a five-way at Battle Creek.
Molalla was second at 181, Stayton third at 184, Cascade fourth at 198 and North Marion fifth at 201.
Keith Horn and Kenny Jones shot 39s to lead the pack. Scott Gagner and Sean McGuyre shot 46s and Ricky Howe added a 50.
“We beat our main rivals on a neutral course,” Coach Horn said. “It was a good day for us. We continue to get better even though the weather was awful, rainy and very cold.”
This was the first time this season the Huskies had defeated a full Capitol conference field.
“It’s the first time we’ve had both medalists. We beat good players from North Marion and Stayton,” Coach Horn said.
