Sweet Home’s volleyball team finished its season with a 3-0 win over Elmira Tuesday, Oct. 20, to finish the season tied with Junction City at 4-6 for fourth in the Sky-Em Conference and miss the playoffs by a hair. “All those two-point close losses came back to haunt us,” Coach Mary Hutchins said. “We just missed getting that last play-in spot and the girls would have loved that chance.” Against the Falcons, Sweet Home took control early, winning 25-13, 25-11 in the first two sets. In the third game, Elmira and the Huskies traded the lead until Sweet Home took control late, winning 25-22. Hutchins said the Huskies finished well, with shutout wins over Cottage Grove and Elmira. “I loved their energy and enthusiasm those last two games,” she said.
