Has one of your friends or neighbors (or you) created a lights display you’d like the public to see?
If so, make haste to communicate that location to The New Era, which is again holding its annual Best Lights Contest.
Judges this year will be Senior Center members who are participating in the center’s bus tour of local light displays. Contest entries will be included on the route the seniors follow.
Deadline for entries is noon Thursday, Dec. 12. Judges will roll that evening, so make sure those lights are turned on.
“We know the cold weather has restricted the installation of displays – we’ve had the same problem,” said Publisher Scott Swanson. “We’re just encouraging people to do the best they can under the circumstances. This schedule was set up long before the cold weather rolled in, so we’re kind of stuck as far as the timing’s concerned.”
Selected nominations will be included on a lights guide map that will be published in next week’s issue of the newspaper.
Prizes for the best lights display, and one nominator, whose name will be drawn, will be a year’s subscription to the newspaper.
To enter, e-mail your nomination, with your name and a working phone number, and the name and phone number (if available) of the person responsible for the lights display being nominated, to [email protected] or call us at (541) 367-2135 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
