Great response to breast cancer walk

Editor:

On Saturday, Sept. 27, we had over 120 people show up and Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness in Sweet Home. The Sweet Home Community raised over $2,700 from registration, pledges and donations that will benefit detection & treatment of breast cancer in Linn County!

Thank you to all teams and individuals that showed up to support the event to raise Awareness right here in Sweet Home. Special thanks to Teams T2, Inc. and Sweet Home Elks #1972, which provided half of our total walkers, with each having over 30 members! Other teams included City of Sweet Home Employees, Family & Friends, Sportsman’s Holiday Court, Twin Oaks-Avamere, Team Currey, Team Linda and Team Miriam. Special thanks to the South Santiam Sweet Potato Queens, who provided a generous donation for the cause.

The Chamber of Commerce provided cookies for walkers as they passed, other businesses allowed us to set up tables on their property and donated prizes with the Oregon Jamboree donating the grand prize of Jamboree tickets. The New Era, KFIR and Tell & Sell helped advertise our event to get people there.

The Satellite Walk Committee wants to thank everyone that attended, donated, and supported the event in some way. This community really stepped up and showed their heart for a great cause and we thank all of you!
