Gregory gives back to clients and community

Sweet Home’s very own Gregory Home Team is gearing up to give away hundreds of turkeys to their clients as part of a yearly gesture of appreciation.

“Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays,” said Sherri Gregory of Gregory Home Team. “We wanted to make sure we showed thanks to those people who have helped us in our business.”

When it comes time for the giveaway, Gregory likes to send out alerts to past and present clients. It’s one way she gauges the community’s support.

“Occasionally things go into spam, or you don’t get things and they’ll be calling ‘is Sherri doing turkeys still this year?’ It just makes me feel good inside to give back.”

She said she started the giveaway back in 2009. In the initial years, Gregory and her team would gather the turkeys, then deliver them around town and beyond. Even at the time, she said her team was delivering well over a hundred turkeys. But as her business grew, it became increasingly difficult to make the deliveries in time for the holidays. This year, the team is giving away more than 300 turkeys. Clients can also choose to get a pumpkin pie as an alternative to the traditional Thanksgiving turkey.

Anything Gregory’s clients don’t claim will be donated to a local charity. Gregory said she always orders more turkeys than they’ll need. “Usually we have a flux of maybe 10%, or 15% that people just forget to pick up, or choose to have us donate on their behalf.” She added, “We’ve used various different organizations that are non-profit that we know could use them.”

Now, past and present clients of the Gregory Home Team can go to one of the team’s offices in Sweet Home, Lebanon or Albany to get their turkey or pie. In Sweet Home, their office on Main Street distributed turkeys on Tuesday, Nov. 21
