Half of Sweet Home’s 10 new teachers are returning alums

Ten new teachers will start the year with the Sweet Home School District next week along with one new administrator and a new district nurse.

Five of them are Sweet Home School District alumni.

– Ryan Adams, business and business math at Sweet Home High School. Adams holds a bachelor of arts degree with endorsements in social studies and math from Western Oregon University. Adams is an SHHS graduate.

– Nathan Bofto, PE teacher at Sweet Home Junior High. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Oregon and a master of arts degree from Grand Canyon University.

– Billie Cannon, district behavior program coach. Cannon holds a master of arts degree with an endorsement in school psychology from New Mexico State University and has six years of education experience.

– Kym Hunt, special education teacher at Foster Elementary. Hunt holds a master of arts degree with an endorsement in special education from Western Oregon University.

– Grant Kauffman, health teacher at SHJH. Kauffman holds a bachelor of arts degree with an endorsement in health from Western Oregon University. Kauffman is an SHHS graduate.

– Wayne Lander, temporary math teacher at SHHS. He holds a bachelor of arts degree with math and science endorsements from Western Governors University. He has 20 years of experience in education.

– Emily Marchbanks, advanced math teacher at SHHS. Marchbanks holds a bachelor of arts degree with an endorsement in advanced math from Newberry College. She is a graduate of SHHS.

– Matt Montrose, biology teacher at SHHS. Montrose holds a master of arts degree with an endorsement in biology from Western Governors University.

– Greg Nathan, temporary math teacher at SHJH.

– Alison Hay, vocal music teacher at SHHS. She holds a master of arts degree with an endorsement in general music from the University of Puget Sound. She has one year of experience in education.

– Patty O’Day, district nurse. O’Day holds a bachelor of arts degree from Georgia Southern University. She has 11 years of experience. She is a graduate of SHHS.

– Nate Tyler, assistant principal and athletic director at SHHS. He holds a master of arts degree with an administration endorsement from the University of Oregon. He has eight years of experience in education and is an SHHS graduate.
