Harold ‘Max’ Kent

Harold ‘Max’ Kent, 76, of Sweet Home died on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005, at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.

He was born in Garden Plains, Kan., to Lee and Frances Kent. He moved to the Sweet Home area in 1947.

He married Sheila Jean Bailey on Sept. 19, 1949.

He drove log truck for many years.

Often, in the winter when the roads were icy and slick, he would drive other trucks down the steep grades.

He drove for various local companies, including Toland and Buhn, McKay Logging and Titus Trucking. He later became foreman for Titus Trucking and then logging superintendent for Willamette Industries. He retired in 1996.

Mr. Kent spent his last days in Redmond with his daughters and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila of Sweet Home; brother, Clifford Kent of Corvallis; sons, Larry, Ray and Duane of Sweet Home; daughters, Jan and Sandra of Redmond; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and a son, Gary Lee Kent.

Funeral services were held Nov. 19 at the River of Life Church.

The Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel handled the arrangements.
