The City of Sweet Home cut down 10 hazardous trees in the 1400 block of Evergreen Lane, which is a loop around a pocket park.
Following a complaint about dead trees, the city contacted and received quotes from three independent arborists to look at all the trees in the loop, said Public Works Director Greg Springman. An aborist recommended removal of 10 trees, including seven that were dead and three that were hazardous.
Chuck’s Tree Service cut the trees and will grind the stumps, Springman said. Public Works removed the logs and debris, which was sold to T2 for chipping to help offset the cost of cutting the trees.
All of them were in the north section of the park, Springman said. Going forward, “we want to make some improvements to it.”
The park already has a picnic table, and Springman said he would like to see irrigation installed in the open area on the north end.
