Herbert Scott

Herbert Pablo Scott, 57, of Brownsville, died Feb. 7, 2007 at his home.

He was born Feb. 25, 1949 in Agate, Guam, to John Herbert and Maria (Pablo) Scott.

He lived in Guam until age 9, when his family settled in Sweet Home. He has lived in Brownsville for the last 20 years.

He married Laura K. Blackburn on Oct. 31, 1988 in Reno, Nev.

Mr. Scott served in the Army Infantry from 1967 – 1970, when he was honorably discharged. He then worked as a logger until 1983, when he retired due to an accident.

He loved his family, spending time on his ranch taking care of his critters, especially all kinds of birds. He loved working with horses and helping people in need. He was a Christian and enjoyed reading the Bible. He was also a deacon at Sweet Home Church of Christ on 18th and Long.

He is survived by his wife, Laura of Brownsville; his son Aaron; his daughter Patra; and his brothers and sisters, Jose Scott of Albany, Pedro Scott of Philomath, Connie Hillis of Albany, Mary Shew of Lebanon, Ina Phillips of Peoria, John Scott of Crawfordsville, Francis Tyler of Cheshire, Trammel Scott of Portland, and Naomi Wodtli of Philomath; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Sweet Home Church of Christ on 18th & Long.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
