The Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District (SHFAD) were dispatched to the scene of a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 20 and 23rd Avenue on Sept 23.
SHFAD arrived on the scene alongside Sweet Home Police Department and City of Sweet Home Public Works employees who helped provide traffic control during the accident.
According to the on-shift Battalion Chief Shannon Pettner, between the two vehicles there were five occupants. One of these patients was evaluated while the other four refused the need for ambulance evaluation. The patient ultimately was not transported by ambulance.
After evaluating the needs of patients, the rescue crew cleaned up fluids on the highway that had leaked from one of the vehicles.
According to the Sweet Home Police Department CAD Press Logs, the total damage of this wreck was valued over $2,500. Kevin Mills, 61, was an operator of one of these wrecked vehicles. He was determined to be at fault after being cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.
