Hillside Fellowship marks 50 years

More than 100 people, gathered Saturday night, Nov. 5, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hillside Fellowship, which was founded as a branch Sunday School of the Lebanon Free Methodist Church on Nov. 7, 1961. Some of the key people in that effort were the Dodge, Hodson and Porter families. The congregation purchased the Bethel Lutheran facility at 13th and Nandina, in 1962 and worshipped there until moving to its present facility, at 501 Nandina, in 1979. Saturday’s gathering included several of the nine pastors who have served the congregation over 50 years: Wes Dodge (1961-66), Ray Finkbeiner (1966-68), Ernest Miller (1968-74), Dale Winslow (1976-85), Tom Nelson (1985-90), Jack Gilliland (1991-93), Dick Hill (1993-2009) and present Pastor Matt Coleman
