Holiday glow starts with Christmas parade

Melcher Logging/THI of Sweet Home earns the Grand Sweepstakes award as the companies’ give Santa a lift through the second annual lighted Christmas parade. The parade was held Saturday along Long and Highway 20.

The first-place commercial truck award went to Rice Logging of Sweet Home. Placing second was Ben Graves Trucking of Scio and third place went to Johnson Trucking and Cascade Rock of Sweet Home.

In the private division, first place went to Kenneth Oberg of Sweet Home with a 1961 sailboat. Second place went to Coldwell Banker Branson and Associates with a tractor, and third place went to Chafin Farms carriage of Sweet Home with Sportsman’s Holiday princesses Amanda Marvin-Smith and Lucinda Looney. The parade had seven entries.

“Everybody that did it this year is extremely excited about it,” Karala Hendrickson said.

Organizers are looking forward to a larger turnout next year.
