Holley Christian holds 25th Faith Promise Rally

The Holley Christian Church, located at 40346 Hwy. 28, will conduct its 25th annual Faith Promise Rally from Oct. 13-15.

The Faith Promis speakers will be Mr. and Mrs. Lee Shafer of Newberg Christian Church. Mr. Shafer is serving as Associate Minister for Seniors at Newberg Christina. Working part time, he also does visitation and preaching.

Mr. Shafer was born in Medford and grew up in the Rogue Valley. He and Juanita McDonald were married in Anchorage, Alaska, in 1949, and he graduated from San Jose Bible College in 1953. The Shafers have four children and nine grandchildren.

After serving his home congregation, Phoenix Church of Christ in Phoenix, Mr. and Mrs. Shafer were called in 1955 to minister with the newly formed Shastar Way Christian Church in Klamath Falls. This ministry of 33 years involved four building pograms, the development of a strong missions emphasis through Faith Promis and growing evangelistic outreach. The Shafers were called to Newberg Christian Church in 1988, and Mr. Shafer served as lead minister for the congregation until retirement in 1994.

Missions have always been a special interest to the Shafers, and they have visited fields in Korea, Taiwan, Mexico, Kenya, Thailand and Australia for encouragement and ministry. Mr. Shafer serves on several mission boards including Oregon Latin-American Evangelism, which establishes Spanish-speaking churches across Oregon. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Oregon Christian Evangelistic Fellowship, which plants churches, Christian Churches, across Oregon. Mr. Shafer has conducted Faith Promise rallies across the Northwest, including Alaska, and he has spoken for more than 80 rallies.

The theme for the 25th annual Faith Promis Rally is “Putting the Go in the Gospel.” The text is based on Romans 10:14-15.

Mr. Shafer will speak at 7 p.m. on Oct. 13 and again at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 14 at The Point, located at 6305 Main St. Mrs. Shafer will speak to the woman Oct. 14 at their 11 a.m. luncheon, which will be held at Holley Christian Church. Mr. Shafer will speak at both worship services on Oct. 15, 8:45 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Chris Rice is the chairman of the Faith Promise program.
