Impressive! The Varsity and Junior Varsity basketball teams volunteered their time and talents at Little Promises to do some maintenance and repair during the Christmas break.
Coaches Little, Hutchins, Wilson and 14 players, armed with tools and eager, co-operative attitudes spent four hours at the childcare center. Not only did they remove obsolete equipment and save the district the time and expense, they patched and replaced four rooms of baseboards and cleaned up after themselves. The finished product was awesome.
We used their height to our advantage by giving the job of replacing bulbs and cleaning light fixtures. Other jobs required strength that the women who work at Little Promises did not posses and these guys made it look like child’s play. There was also some mingling with the children as the boys shot some hoops and impressed kids with their skills.
Some of the team were heard saying, “Wow, this school was a lot bigger when I went here.” During a social time over pizza, we discovered that 12 of the team and two coaches were Little Promises alumni. They got a good start.
The healthy display of respect and camaraderie between the coaches and team was what really impressed me the most. These young men are excellent representation of our community. The Little Promises team will definitely be in their corner cheering for the Sweet Home Huskies basketball team.
Thank you, and Go Huskies!
