Howard Arms

Howard Melvin Arms, 94, of Foster, died Jan. 5, 2022.

He was born March 21, 1927, in Vinita, Okla., to John Moses and Iva Jane (Young) Arms.

Mr. Arms served in the United States Army. He lived in Oklahoma and Texas before settling in Sweet Home in 1958.

He was a certified welder at the age of 16, drilled for water for 35 years, witched for water, drove school bus for Sweet Home and worked in a paper mill.

Mr. Arms enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved playing “Bump” (a dice and marble game) and spending time with family.

Mr. Arms is survived by his wife, Bridget M. Arms; daughter Charolette Schilling; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Chris Arms; grandson Matthew Schilling; his mother and father; and all of his brothers and sisters.

Viewing will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Final burial will be at Gilliland Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Arms’ name to St. Jude.
