The Oregon Hunters Association last week announced a new initiative to protect Oregon hunters against recurring attacks by animal extremists attempting to cancel hunting throughout the state. Although OHA was successful in helping to defeat the radical anti-hunting
Initiative Petition 28 (IP 28), OHA leadership warned that playing defense every two years against well-funded extremist groups is a losing
strategy.
To build a permanent, durable solution, OHA has formed an “unprecedented alliance” with Oregon-based optics manufacturer Leupold
& Stevens, Inc., naming it title sponsor of the OHA. “Defeating IP 28 is a massive victory, but holding the line on a case-by-case basis is no longer enough,” said Dr. Todd Adkins, executive director of OHA. “We need a sustainable long-term fix that secures our future once and
for all. By anchoring their legendary ‘Gold Ring’ to OHA as our title sponsor, Leupold is providing the backbone we need to outlast, out-prepare and out-maneuver any threat to our heritage.”
To mark this historic launch, OHA is introducing the exclusive OHA Gold Ring Membership program, a unique opportunity for hunters to make a profound, lasting financial investment in Oregon’s wildlife, habitat and hunting advocacy. Every new Gold Ring Membership includes a Leupold rifle scope – complete with Leupold’s lifetime guarantee – at no additional cost.
“Every dollar from these premier memberships stays directly here in Oregon to deliver on our mission,” Adkins said. “This means more habitat work, more wildlife projects, and the capital to secure our hunting heritage for generations. We are building a united front that ensures nobody will push Oregon hunters around again.”
