Huskies 3-1 after opening week of softball

The Huskies softball team got rolling fast enough to finish 3-1 in their first week after a little bit of a rocky start in a 5-2 loss to Molalla in their opener March 11.

Katie Virtue went 3-4, and Emily Marchbanks pitched seven innings;

giving up only three hits and striking out 13 against Molalla.

The

next day, Sweet Home defeated Newport 5-2, with Virtue again going 3-4

at the plate, and Marchbanks throwing seven innings; giving up only

three hits, with nine strikeouts.

Thursday, they played Regis

twice, blowing the visitors away 11-1 in five innings in the first game

and winning 9-8 the second.

In the first game the girls got nine hits, with Caitlyn Gillespie going 2-3.

Once again Marchbanks had a great game, said Coach Gary Barr, words allowing only two hits, with eight strikeouts.
