Huskies ace Marchbanks named softball MVP

Makenzie Marchbanks was named Husky softball most valuable player last week during the team’s annual awards dessert.

Marchbanks had a 1.37 earned run average and struck out 210 batters. She walked 23 batters, and hit .319 to lead the team at the plate.

Jessalyn Seiber was named most inspirational. Kaci Pettit was most improved.

The winners of these awards were selected by the team.

Statistic awards included the Golden Glove award, which went to Nicki Aerni. She had the second-most put outs and the second-most chances. She committed the least errors.

The Silver Slugger award went to Marchbanks for best batting average.

Sara Brocard received the hustle award.

First-year letters went to freshman Pettit, sophomores Chelsea Gregory and Seiber and junior Olivia Lake. Gregory also was named to second-team all-league utility player. Seiber was named first-team outfielder.

Seniors Bethany Emmert and Cait Thireault received their second-year letters.

Junior Brocard earned her third letter and was honorable mention in all-league awards.

Junior Marchbanks earned her third letter and was the league pitcher of the year.

Junior Michelle Cliver received her third letter and was a unanimous selection for first-team shortstop.

Seniors Dani Thireault and Aerni earned their third letters.

Junior varsity awards included most valuable player Lacey Mink, most improved Alli Rice and most inspirational Kelly Mauch. These awards were voted by the team.

Statiscal awards went to Mink, Big Stick, and Paige Niemi, Golden Glove.
