Sweet Home beat Sisters and Woodburn under the 10-run rule, and Newport 7-4 last week, extending their record to 11-2.
Then, Monday, the Huskies beat Philomath 4-3 at home to tie with the Warriors for the Oregon West league lead at 12-2.
Sweet Home was scheduled to host Stayton at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and Cascade at 4:30 p.m. on May 6. The Huskies will finish the regular season at Sisters May 8 and at Newport May 9.
“The kids are just working hard, and they’re peaking at the right time,” said Coach Karyn Hartsook Monday afternoon. They’re hitting well and running bases aggressively.
Playoff spots aren’t a lock yet, but “things are still moving really nice,” Hartsook said. “It just kind of depends on how everyone finishes. We have to continue to win our games. Today would be a great win for the girls.”
The Huskies defeated Newport at home April 24 on the strength of a seven-run third inning.
Newport had a three-run inning but wasn’t able to close the gap.
“We were able to hold our composure and be mature athletically and mentally,” Hartsook said. “That was a big moment for u to be able to use that and carry it into the game today (against Philomath).”
Kalea Blodgett led off with a single for Newport in the top of the first inning and scored on an error at shortstop to take a 1-0 lead over Sweet Home.
Emily Brown led off the bottom of the third singling. Zanona singled, and Bitter sacrificed on a bunt to advance them. Ashtyn Walker grounded out as Brown scored and Zanona advanced to third, tying the game 1-1.
Kurtz tripled to score Zanona and take a 2-1 lead. She scored on an error at centerfield, allowing Hutchins to reach. Virtue singled to score Hutchins. Miner reached on an error advancing Virtue to second. Carter walked, loading bases.
Brown singled to score Virtue, and Zanona doubled to score Miner and Carter, giving the Huskies a 7-1 lead.
Newport scored three times in the top of the fifth on three singles, a fielder’s choice, a walk and a sacrifice to trail 7-4.
Zanona and Brown led at the plate with two hits each. Zanona had two RBIs and a run. Brown had an RBI and a run. Walker, Kurtz, Hutchins and Virtue each had one hit.
Walker had one RBI. Hutchins, Carter and Miner each had one run. Virtue and Kurtz each had one run and one RBI. Doubling once were Walker, Hutchins and Zanona. Kurtz had a triple.
Blodgett led Newport hitting going 3-5 with two runs.
Pitching, Walker went four innings, giving up a walk, seven hits and four runs with two strikeouts. Hutchins finished the game, giving up six walks and a hit with four strikeouts.
Hattie Imbler-Bremner threw a complete game for Newport, giving up a walk, eight hits and two earned runs while striking out two.

The Huskies beat Woodburn 11-0 in five innings under the 10-run rule on the road Thursday.
Graci Zanona led off with a single. Sunhee Bitter walked, and Savannah Hutchins singled on a line drive to left field to score Zanona. Marissa Kurtz singled on a hard ground ball to left field to score Bitter and Hutchins, giving the Huskies a 3-0 lead. Sweet Home scored four more times to lead 7-0 in the top of the first inning.
The Huskies scored three times in the top of the second and once more in the fourth inning to lead 11-0.
Zanona and Maddie Harris led the Huskies at the plate going 3-3, Zanona with a run and a triple and Harris with two RBIs and a home run.
Kurtz went 2-2 with three RBIs and two runs. Hutchins had one hit with an RBI and two runs.
Bitter and Allison Miner each had two runs, and Samantha Virtue had one run. Emily Brown had two RBIs, and Jasmine Carter had one RBI.
Yami Rios had one hit for Woodburn.
In the circle, Hutchins went two innings, striking out three. Harris threw the last three innings, giving up one hit and striking out three.
For Woodburn, Janice Gara gave up 11 walks, nine hits and 11 earned runs. Audrey Gonzalez threw the fifth and final inning, giving up two walks.

The Huskies beat Sisters 16-6 in six innings at home under the 10-run rule.
Sweet Home grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first inning, with Zanona and then Walker reaching on errors. Zanona scored on the second error. Kurtz singled to advance Walker to second base. In as a courtesy runner for Walker, Harris scored on another error. Virtue doubled to drive in Kurtz, giving the Huskies a 3-0 lead.
Sweet Home racked up four more runs in the second and three more in the third to lead 10-0.
Sisters scored two runs on two singles, a walk and an error in the top of the fourth. Sweet Home scored another five runs before allowing Woodburn to score four times in the top of the fifth to lead 15-6.
Kurtz scored the game-ending run in the bottom of the sixth on a single from Virtue. Kurtz reached on a walk and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Hutchins.
The Huskies collected 17 hits, led by Kurtz who went 4-4 with two RBIS and two runs. Brown and Virtue each went 3-4, Brown with three runs and Virtue with two RBIs.
Bitter and Carter each had two hits, Bitter with three runs and Carter with three runs and an RBI.
Hitting once each were Zanona with an RBI and a run, Walker with three RBIs and Hutchins with two RBIs.
Miner had a run, and Harris had three runs.
Brown and Virtue each had a double, and Carter hit a triple.
For Sisters, Ariana Tapia went 2-4 with a run and Keely Malloy went 2-3.
Walker threw 5 1/3 innings for the Huskies, giving up one walk, eight hits and one earned run while striking out 11 Outlaws. Hutchins pitched the final out of the game.
Payden Petterson pitched 2 1/3 innings for Sisters, giving up a walk, nine hits and two earned runs. Malloy threw 1 1/3 innings in relief, giving up a walk, five hits and three earned runs. Isabelle Spitler pitched the final two innings, giving up a walk, three hits and one earned run.
