The boys basketball team earned yet another win under their belt after a hard fought victory against Molalla winning 59-53; Tuesday, December 5th.
In just the first quarter, the Huskies proved they were able to keep control of the game. Holding a nine point lead, and following that with an 11 point lead the next quarter.
By the end of the first half, it was clear the boys had every intention to win, “It was a good team win for us. We had a big lead, 16 in the third. They came back and tied it in the 4th,” Coach Drew Emmert said in a statement.
“Our seniors showed great leadership and won it at the end, Vegas went 4-4 from the line in the last minute to seal the win.”
Senior player Ethan Delibertis scored a total of 13 points, while senior player Colin Nicholson scored a total of eight points in the first half, and five points in the following half.
Following these games, the boys played Dec. 8 against Douglas, losing 29-65, and a game against Phoenix Dec. 9, losing 51-57.
“Friday we played at Douglas who is a very good team. They will compete for a 3A state title. We didn’t play very well and didn’t handle their defensive pressure very well. [We] Had way too many turnovers.” Coach Emmert said.
Emmert also stated, “On sat we lost a close one on the road at Phoenix. Colin played tough with 16 pts and 5 blocks. We had a chance in the last minute to make it a single possession game but didn’t execute very well at the end.”
Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. the boys will be back home playing against South Albany, and again Dec. 15 at 5:30 p.m. against Estacada.
