Huskies down Cascade 51-24 in Capital Conference mat tilt

Husky grapplers ran past Cascade 51-24 Thursday at Cascade as the Capital Conference teams edge toward next week’s district tournament.

“Cascade won five matches,” Coach Steve Thorpe said. “I think Cascade is a better tournament team than a dual meet team. They have some good individuals in their lineup.”

Coach Thorpe said that as a whole, his Huskies competed very well.

“Our young, lighter guys, Shane Vandehei and Trevor Tagle, both looked very good,” Coach Thorpe said. “Shane is starting to find his place in the varsity lineup.

Coach Thorpe said senior Adam Zurcher scored a 41 second fall over Johnny Weight at 130 pounds.

“Adam is really coming on,” Coach Thorpe said.

Calendar: The Huskies will host Molalla Thursday. JV starts at 6 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m. Husky seniors will be honored since this is the last home match of the season.
