Sweet Home 2
Cascade 1
The Sweet Home summer baseball team edged out Cascade 2-1 at home on July 2.
“Donny Cliver and Cody Miller both threw very well, combining to give up only four hits,” Coach Dan Tow said. “I thought they both did a great job. We were down by one in the seventh, but (Jon) Dearborn led off with a single, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Donny Cliver to tie the game 1-1.
“In the eighth, Joe Kisselburg got on to lead off the inning, and Frank Ramoz bunted to get him to second, but their catcher fielded the ball and threw it away. Kisselburg came all the way around to score the game-winning run.
“It was just a great game for us. Our pitchers performed very well, and we played well defensively.”
At the mound, winning pitcher Cliver struck out seven batters and walked three.
At bats, Jared Anable went 1-1 with a double. Ramoz went 1-1. Dearborn, Charles Murray and Joe Rosa went 1-2.
