Huskies fall to Taft in boys soccer

The Sweet Home boys soccer team lost 4-0 at Taft on Thursday.

“It was a very, very physical game, much more of a defensive game than any game this season,” Coach Karl Schmidtman said.

Both teams combined for only 12 shots on goal, but Taft scored on half of its shots.

Normally, the Huskies take many more shots than the four they had, Schmidtman said, but usually their opponent does too.

Taft’s goals were partly the result of defensive letdowns and partly efficiency on Taft’s part, Schmidtman said.

Goalie Michael Bolduc was hit three times while he had the ball, Schmmidtman said. He was injured and pulled from the game. That contributed to the loss as well.

Sebastian Mauer filled in during the second half and came up with two saves, Schmidtman said. He played well and did a nice job.

“That game was not typical of what we’ve been doing lately,” Schmidtman said.

The Huskies are 0-10-1. They have two games left, traveling to Newport on Thursday and hosting Central on Tuesday.
