“We played very poorly defensively in this one,” Coach Dan Tow said. “Scio made some nice plays on defense, and we just didn’t.
“Their pitcher did a nice job, but we’d have had a chance at a win if we could’ve made plays defensively. We held them to five hits, but our mistakes hurt us.”
Lance Carter struck out five batters in five innings, giving up two hits, three walks and four runs but giving up no earned runs. Kyle Pettit pitched in relief giving up three hits and six runs with one walk.
Dajon DeMille and Mark Lewis were the only Husky hitters with two each.
The Huskies played in Scio on July 9.

“Kyle not only pitched well, but he hit very well also,” Coach Tow said. “His double in the first inning knocked in two runs, and from there, we never lost the lead.
“Kyle Pettit was very good tonight. He struck out five and walked zero. I was very pleased with his effort, and he had very good control. He scattered a few hits; and with no walks, that’s just a great job.”
Pettit went 3-4 at bats to lead the Huskies with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs. Derrick ward went 2-4 with one run. The Huskies finished with 10 hits.
The Huskies faced Cascade on the road on July 5.
