Sweet Home displayed a balanced offensive strategy, with 58% of plays on the ground and 42% through the air. Although the team was averaging six yards per play and showing competitive energy on each drive, the Huskies faced difficulties converting their efforts into points. Offensive efficiency was measured at 41%, reflecting their consistent yardage gains.

The game’s momentum shifted significantly during the second quarter when Stayton intercepted a pass with just over a minute remaining, thwarting a potential scoring drive for Sweet Home and extending their lead. By halftime, the Huskies were trailing 0-21.

“It was a tough-fought game that just didn’t go our way. Our kids played hard the whole time—which I was extremely proud of,” Adams said. “We were in position to be successful multiple times, just didn’t go our way enough to win the game. That’s football. Stayton is well-coached, and they did enough to take care of business, so credit to those guys.”

This game marked the Sweet Home Huskies senior night. “We were all hoping for a different result, but I’m proud of our guys, especially our seniors,” Adams said.

Trailing 21 points heading into the third quarter, Sweet Home continued to push offensively and managed to add seven points to the scoreboard. However, Stayton’s defense maintained control, holding the Huskies to a single touchdown as they rounded out the final score at 28-7.

The loss reflected Sweet Home’s competitive approach and the team’s ability to execute plays for solid yardage, despite falling short of their goal. Coach Adams highlighted the resilience and effort demonstrated by his players throughout the game, emphasizing a strong commitment from both the team and its senior players. The Huskies last game is scheduled for Nov. 1, set to play at Cascade (7-1).
