Huskies give up halftime lead in loss to Yamhill-Carlton

Yamhill-Carlton (2-6) came back in the second half to upend Sweet Home’s (2-6) two-point halftime lead en route to a 46-38 non-league boys basketball victory on Tuesday, Dec. 21.

“It was a close game all the way through, but it’s a game we probably should have won at home,” Head Coach Drew Emmert said. “We didn’t play very well in the second half, and we let it get away from us. It’s one we wish we could have back.”

Senior Russell Holly led the Huskies with 17 points, on 7-for-17 shooting from the field. He went 2-for-8 from beyond the arc and 1-for-3 from the charity stripe, while pulling down eight rebounds. Senior Eddie Martinez added seven points on 3-for-10 shooting. The point guard also fired off six assists. Junior Evan Towry also pitched in for five points, including a three-pointer, on 2-for-9 shooting from the field.

The Huskies are scheduled to play in the SCTC Holiday Classic at Stayton High School this week, tipping off against 5A North Salem (2-4) at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28.
