Huskies nip Elmira in baseball, Sisters shuts them out

The Huskies were shut out in a 6-0 no-hitter by Sisters at home on Friday after defeating Monroe 7-4 on April 18 at home and Elmira 5-4 at Elmira on April 17.

The Huskies maintained their grasp on second place in the Sky-Em League, with a 5-3 league record, behind Sisters, 7-0, and ahead of Elmira, 4-4. Cottage Grove and La Pine are tied at 3-5, and Junction City is last in league with a record of 1-6.

The Huskies travel to Junction City on Friday and La Pine on Monday. They were scheduled to host Cottage Grove on Tuesday.

Sisters 6, Sweet Home 0

Sisters opened scoring the first run of the game in the fourth inning, adding another in the fifth and then four more in the final inning.

Sweet Home batters were struck out 10 times, while recording no hits.

Cory Hanks started on the mound, striking out five Outlaws and giving up five hits and five walks. Drayson Scott pitched two innings in relief, giving up three hits and a walk while striking out four.

Sweet Home 7, Monroe 4

While Monroe scored a run in the first, the Huskies quickly took the lead, scoring three in the bottom of the inning, taking a lead and never looking back.

Both teams scored two more runs in the third inning, and Sweet Home added two more in the fourth. Monroe scored again in the final inning.

Jeremy White started, pitching three innings, giving up two hits and a walk and striking out three. Drayson Scott pitched the next three, giving up three walks and no hits while striking out four. Kory Van Deusen pitched a third of an inning, walking two. Colton Holly pitched two-thirds of an inning, walking one.

At bat, Austin Rice went 1-3 with two runs and an RBI. White went 1-2 with two runs, an RBI and a double. Hunter Bidwell went 2-3 with two RBIs. Justin Rice went 1-3 with a double and a run. Ty Harvey went 1-2 with an RBI. Kyle Winslow went 103 with a run, an RBI and a double. Colton Holly scored a run.

Sweet Home put together a devastating second inning to take a 5-0 lead at Elmira, while Elmira chipped away at the lead in the second, third and fifth innings.

Starting pitcher J. Rice struck out five batters, walked one and hit three batters, giving up two hits. White pitched one-third of an inning in relief to finish the game.

At bat, A. Rice recorded two RBIs. White went 1-3 with a run. Bidwell went 2-3 with a run. J. Rice went 1-3. Harvey, Winslow and Holly each scored runs. Hanks and Holly each recorded an RBI.
