Huskies on top-10 GPA lists

Number one-ranked Sisters was a little too much for the young Sweet Home football team on the gridiron this year, but the Huskies have proved they can run with the Outlaws in the classroom, according to grade reports announced by the Oregon Student Activities Association last week.

The Huskies have placed fourth in the state, tied with Sisters, in the 4A division in their average grade point average – 3.12 thus far during the season.

The OSAA and the Dairy Farmers of Oregon have sponsored the Dairy Farmers of Oregon Academic All-State Award for 11 years. The honor recognizes excellence in the classroom throughout the state.

As top-10 placers, Sweet Home players will receive a lapel pin indicating their achievement.

Also placing in the top 10 was the boys soccer team, which is tied with Phoenix for sixth in the state, with a 3.25 GPA.

Also listed as having GPAs above 3.00 are the girls soccer team (3.15, 22nd in the 4A), the volleyball team (3.25, 24th) and the boys cross-country team, which wasn’t among the top 25 but has a GPA of 3.20.
