Huskies ‘outplayed’ by Sisters, Sutherlin in girls basketball

The Sisters Outlaws dominated the Huskies Friday night in Sweet Home, winning 52-25 in girls basketball.

“I thought we had a decent shot,” said Coach Steve Brown. “They just outplayed us, plain and simple. We made some silly fouls. Foul trouble early didn’t help.”

The team was down one player, with Brittany Brownell out.

With three players out, April Underwood came up from junior varsity against Sutherlin earlier in the week and then against Sisters.

When she went in during the fourth quarter, she “hit a three pointer. It was nothing but net,” Brown said. She went into the game. Ally Tow threw her the ball, and she put it up.

Sisters opened the game with a 19-7 lead after one quarter and led 33-11 at halftime. The Huskies trailed 43-15 at the end of the third quarter.

Hailey Silver led scoring for the Huskies, with seven points.

The Huskies are 0-2 in league and 3-10 overall, tied for fifth with Cottage Grove. Elmira, Junction City and Sisters are tied for second with a 2-1 record, and Sutherlin is leading the Sky-Em with a 3-0 record.

Sutherlin is ranked fourth in the state.

The Huskies are next scheduled to visit Elmira on Tuesday, Jan. 26, Cottage Grove on Friday and Siuslaw on Tuesday, Feb. 2.
