The Sweet Home High School (SHHS) softball team (3-10) had a busy week going into their league play, ultimately winning one game and losing two.

The girls played away against Cascade (8-1) April 8. The game proved to be difficult for the team as they struggled to gain points ending the game 0-7.

The following game was away against Stayton (8-3) April 10, ending with another loss for the Huskies.

“We played some good teams this week,” head coach Emily Marchbanks explained.

This didn’t stop the determination of the Huskies however, as they won their third league game against Newport (1-10) April 11, finishing 4-3.

“I am really proud of how the girls worked as a team to get a win against Newport,” Marchbanks said.

Along with a win to close up the week, Marchbanks made a key point that the team will be looking to make adjustments in order to ensure high energy and stay focused throughout the game.

Looking forward, the girls have another full week of league games, first at home versus North Marion (9-2) April 15, followed by an away game against Philomath (0-12) April 17, and finally back at home versus Cascade (10-1) April 18.
