Huskies Softball Have A Rough Start To Season

The Sweet Home Softball team faced several challenges at the Battle at the Beach Tournament in Newport, finishing (1-3).

On Friday, March 25, the Huskies kicked off their season with a high-scoring matchup against the Tigers of Junction City (8-3). Despite their efforts, the Huskies fell short, losing 23-16 in a hard-fought game.

Later that day, the Huskies bounced back with a 9-7 victory over the Warriors of Toledo (3-5). Showcasing resilience and determination, the Huskies secured their first win of the tournament.

Saturday brought more tough competition for the Huskies. In the morning game, the Huskies suffered a close 12-10 loss to the Tigers of Taft (1-7). Struggling to maintain their lead, the girls ultimately fell to Taft by just two runs.

In their final game of the tournament, the Huskies faced a tough opponent, the undefeated Lions of St. Helens (10-0). Despite their efforts, the girls were unable to generate any offense, resulting in a 15-0 loss.

With the conclusion of their first tournament of the season, the Huskies’ overall record stands at 2-7. In the latest rankings, the Huskies are placed at #27 in the OSAA 4A Rank, #25 in the RPI Rank, and #29 in the Colley Rank.
