Huskies split with Santiam Christian in Friday games

The Husky summer baseball team defeated Santiam Christian 9-1 in the first half of a double header Friday evening at home.
“Brent Smith pitched a great game, and we played well defensively behind him,” Coach Dan Tow said. “He was sharp and focused.”
Smith struck out nine batters and walked four.
At bats Jon Dearborn went 2-4. Joe Rosa went 2-4 with two RBIs. Tomas Rosa went 1-1 with two RBIs.

The Huskies lost the second game 15-11 in a 13-inning marathon.
“We got done somewhere around 1:30 in the morning,” Coach Tow said. “Tyler Emmert and Bryce Beard threw, and both pitched some quality innings.
“Jon Dearborn did a nice job defensively at catcher, and he had an extremely long night catching all 20 innings. He also had two doubles on offense.
“Joe Kisselburgh had two hits as well. There were too many other big plays to list, but we finally ran out of steam in the 13th inning, in the wee hours of the morning. By then, most of the people were ready to go home, I think — I know!”
