Huskies’ Zane Wise will play in East-West Shrine Game

The Huskies’ Zane Wise, center, will play on the line at the annual East-West Shrine Game Saturday in Baker City. Joining him are four Sweet Home cheerleaders, including, from left, Abbie Rice, Larisa Cole, McKenna Burnett and Tanesia McDowell. They are among 20 girls from around the state selected to perform at the Shrine game, which is a fund-raising tool for the Shriner’s Hospital in Portland. Playing along with Wise for the East team are a few familiar faces from area conferences, including Marcus Cuellar of Central (OL/DL), Kyle McClaughry of Junction City (LB/OL) and Mark Moore of Newport (QB). The East is coached by Todd Willaman of North Valley High School; Monty Nash of Grant Union High School; Greg Grant of Heppner High School; and Stub Travis of Crane High School. The cheerleaders will be coached by Sweet Home’s Crystal Kimball and Pleasant Hill Coach Sarah Deveroux, the state champion coaches from the previous year. Wise is the only football player participating with cheerleaders from his own school, said Kimball.
