Hot on the heels of their remarkable performance at the OSAA State Competition held in Oregon City and hosted by Oregon City High School, the Sweet Home High School (SHHS) cheerleading squad is already setting their sights on their next challenge: the USA Spirit Nationals at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, slated for February 16-17.

Fresh off their second-place finish at the OSAA State Competition, where they showcased unparalleled skill and precision, the Sweet Home cheerleaders are eager to make their mark on the national stage. With their traditional routine securing them a spot at Nationals, alongside their game day routine, the team is poised to shine once again.

“We are so proud of the work they have done to get to this point and cannot wait to see them kill it at Nationals next weekend!” exclaimed Head Coach Amber Rosa.

Reflecting on the team’s journey and their readiness for Nationals, Rosa shared additional insights into their preparation and mindset.

“This season has been full of challenges, as most seasons are,” remarked Rosa. “We faced adversity through major routine changes, illness, and right at the end, injury. But we train for those obstacles.”

Rosa emphasized the team’s dedication and resilience in overcoming these challenges. “By the time we get to state, the kids have been training for eight plus months,” Rosa continued. “These kids worked so hard to give their absolute best, and it really showed in their performance.”

Rosa added, “As a program this is our 19th consecutive state trophy. That means we have placed in the top 5 at state for 19 years in a row, 15 of which were top two placings. No one else in our division comes even close to that streak. While we always strive to end up on top we are so proud of the consistent tradition of excellence in the Sweet Home cheerleading program and we are honored to be a part of that legacy.”

Looking ahead to Nationals, Rosa expressed confidence in the squad’s ability to excel on the national stage. “The kids feel excited and confident going into Nationals this week,” Rosa affirmed. “They qualified both their traditional routine (the one performed at state) as well as our game day routine, so they will have two opportunities to make finals and place.”

The Huskie cheerleaders are ready to give their all at the upcoming competition. Their passion and dedication Rosa promises will be unwavering. With their eyes firmly set on victory, they are poised to make their presence known at the USA Spirit Nationals this year in Anaheim, California.
