Two Husky cheerleaders made the 4A Division all-state cheer squad Saturday at Springfield High School.
Stefanie Crocker placed third and Schae Pettner was sixth in the competition, which included 32 girls from 4A schools around the state.
Sweet Home placed third in the group stunts competition, behind two Newport teams.
Four Huskies, including Crocker and Pettner, competed in the event as individuals. Kristi Ward, who has an injured wrist, still managed to place ninth, while Meagan Day finished in the top 15, cheer coach Crystal Kimball said. Chelsea Gregory also qualified, but was unable to compete because she also has a wrist injury.
Competitors had to qualify by being able to complete such stunts as backhand springs, dancing and jumping.
“The girls did outstanding,” Kimball said. “Newport was there and they were state champions last year. They were pretty much our main competition.”
Members of the stunt team were Crocker, Pettner, Kristin Ward, Zuri Van Cleave and Amber Horner.
