Husky softball JV team comes back for win

Sweet Home 9

Sisters 7

Traveling to Sisters to play, the Husky junior varsity softball team found itself ahead in the first when Melissa Walczyk leed off with a single, Selena Culley reached base on a walk and both scored on Ashley Horn’s single.

Susie Sieg singled and Courtney Walker ripped a shot to riht to score Horn and Sieg.

“When we broke in the third for five of our five team erroes, we allowed Sisters to go ahead 7-4,” Coach Tom Wall said. “Sisters pitcher and defense kept us off base until the sixth when Courtney Walker hit laid down a perfect bunt and reached, stole second and scored on the overthrow at second.

“Going into the top of seven, we trailed 7-5. A change in team strategy, we bunted Jamie Miller with a single. Selena Culley reached on her bunt and error by first. Ashley Horn slapped up the middle. Susie Sieg reached on her bunt with an error by third. We scored the insurance run with Sieg on a suicide bunt laid down perfectly by Jenna Anderson.”

Raelynn Wirth pitched a good game, Coach Wall said. In the bottom of the seventh, the team got all three batters with good defense.

The team’s record is 15-4 overall and 8-1 in league.
