Things get serious for the Sweet Home swimmers this week as they will host the Sweet Home Invitational, their first scoring meet of the season, at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14.
Thursday, Dec. 7, the swim teams competed at the Philomath Relays, their last nonscoring meet of the season.
“As a team we swam a little stronger this week than we did last week,” coach Doug Peargin said. “We’ve spent quite a bit of time on strokework and basic fundamentals. When a swimmer gets these down, their speed will come and, as you can see by our PR’s, we’re right on track.”
The list of Huskies posting at least one lifetime best time at Philomath was long. On the girls side, PR’s were set by Sarah Rosa, Katie Kinney, Staci Grove, Norajean Lemar, Laura Gourley, Shaley Coker, Tee Whaley, Louise Wilcox, Tiffany Traeger, Jessica Trautwein, Nichole Martin and Tashina Davis.
On the boys side, David Worthen, Za Ramsey, Peter VanDerlip, Shawn Adams, Casey Topp, Michael Simmons, John Lemar, Seabass Mauer, Cole Stumbaugh, Kieren Schaefer, Shelby Johnston and Jayce Calhoon all turned in at least one lifetime best time.
