For Sweet Home’s wrestlers, last week was a down week as the Huskies wrestled two duals, which was all the outside competition they had.
The boys beat Newport 77-0 and Junction City 72-6 at Junction City, while the girls defeated the Cubs 66-6 and their hosts 66-3.
“We went over there intent on wrestling solid and that’s what we did,” Coach Steve Thorpe said. “We were looking for a couple of matchups, but we dominated a lot of it. It’s good to have this momentum at this time of the season.”
Things dial up this week for the Huskies. The boys will compete this weekend at Reser’s Tournament of Champions at Liberty High School, while the girls will be in Cottage Grove for the OSAA Girls 4A/3A/2A/1A Special District 2 regional championships.
Wrestling starts at 3 p.m. each day. Wrestlers from 56 teams from Southern Oregon north to Cascade are expected to participate.
