Inaugural Kokanee Power derby nets 45 anglers

Kokanee Power of Oregon held its first kokanee derby in the state July 26 at Green Peter Lake.

Forty-five fishermen participated in the event. Weigh-ins and a barbecue were held at Sunnyside Park following the fishing portion of the event.

Gary Miralles of Shasta Tackle Co. conducted the weigh-ins and served as emcee.

Each entrant could weigh in up to five kokanee and one chinook. Rod Paetsch of Lebanon weighed in 6.9 pounds to come out on top. Other top-10 finishers were Kevin Anderson (6.47), Sissy Von Ahlefeld (6.29), Ben Edwards (6.16), Tyle Bilyeu (6/13), Brad Baker *6.12), Ron Walker (5.89), Brad Okain (5.65), JeffBrandt (5.58) and Scott Touchette (5.51). Blind Bogey winner was Keith Bilyeu (3.93 pounds) and the largest chinook was caught by Debbie Tudor (.43 pounds).
