Infant critical after crash

An infant Sweet Home girl was listed in critical condition at Oregon Health Sciences University following a single-car accident on Aug. 4.

Melinda J. Peet, 22, of Sweet Home was driving a white 1990 Chevrolet Blazer east on Highway 20 near milepost seven when she traveled onto the north shoulder and hit a culvert at a driveway, according to state police. The vehicle became airborn, landed in a residential yard, rolled and came to rest on its wheels in the yard.

Brianna McMahon, two months, was ejected from the vehicle in her car seat through a side window. She was taken to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital then by Life Flight to OHSU. Peet was taken to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

State police responded to the incident at approximately 6:10 p.m.
