Items stolen in local business burglary

Sweet Home Police Department is investigating a burglary at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel Saturday.

A reward is offered for information leading to the return of property stolen during the burglary, said Det. Cyndi Pichardo. The burglary and theft were discovered at about 9 a.m. on Jan. 2, Pichardo said.

The chapel sustained significant damage to the interior. The thief or thieves stole electronics, tools, computer equipment and a flat-screen TV.

No sensitive information was taken, said Liz Olsen, chapel owner.

The chapel purchased the TV a year ago and mounted it to a lift, so it could be used to play tributes and then lowered during funerals, she said.

Losses from damage and theft were estimated at about $16,000, Pichardo said.

The thief or thieves forced their way into the chapel through the area under construction, climbing into the rafters, dropping down and kicking through the walls, Olsen said.

Anyone with information should contact Sweet Home Police Department at 367-5181.
