Jack Carper, 89, of Sweet Home passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2016.
He was born July 15, 1927 in Carter, Ky. to Ottis Floyd and Alza Carper.
He moved to Ohio in the 40’s before leaving snow shovels behind for San Diego in 1956. After nearly 40 years in National City, he moved to Sweet Home in 1992, where he has resided ever since.
Jack enjoyed camping, fishing, NASCAR and socializing with everyone he met. He was a member of the Sweet Home Church of Christ.
He is survived by his children, Gary and Marsha Carper of Sweet Home, Ron and Linda Carper of San Diego, Calif., and Tom Carper of Madras; grandchildren Janet and Eric Diato, and Patty Carper, all of Temecula, Calif., Jason Carper of San Diego, Calif., and Melissa Carper and David Burford of Seattle, Wash.; sisters Margaret Scott and Susie Pence, both of Grayson, Ky.; seven great-grandchildren; nephew Dan Gillen and wife Toni of Jensen Beach, Fla.; and very close friend Sheryl Santesson.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Evon Carper; parents Alza and Guy Ratliff; sister Better Moore; brother Wade Floyd; and aunt Hattie Hart.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2016 at the Sweet Home Christian Church at 18th and Long Street.
