Jack Sherrard, 97, of Sweet Home died April 1, 2006.
He was born on July 30, 1908 in Kansas City, Mo. He traveled by covered wagon from Kansas City to Salt Lake City, Utah, with his family. Three years later they moved to Barstow, CA. His family stayed in California until 1981.
On Dec. 7, 1934, he married Grace Muir. She died in 1985.
Mr. Sherrard retired in 1962 from Standard Oil in California.
In 1989 he married Pearl Espelund. They traveled all over the world together.
Mr. Sherrard stayed active as president of Fir Lawn Lutheran Church Council and was delivering Meals on Wheels up until the time of his death.
He is survived by daughter, Sharron Campbell; four grandchildren; stepchildren, Grant Espelund and Joy Espelund; six step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 5 step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Sherrard was preceded in death by wife, Grace; sisters, Zola and Myrtle; and brothers, Burl and Claude.
Viewing will be held Wednesday, April 5 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Fir Lawn Lutheran Church.
