James D. Koenig, 51, of Sweet Home, formerly of Lebanon, died Jan. 24, 2007 at the Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital.
He was born May 2, 1955 in Eugene and was raised in Lowell. He served in the Army from 1972-75 and was stationed in Germany.
He married Sheryl Smith on Nov. 29, 1975 in Lowell. They resided in Dexter and Springfield before settling in Lebanon. They just recently moved to Sweet Home.
Mr. Koenig worked most of his life in the lumber industry. He had been employed the past two years at Entek in Lebanon. He enjoyed his grandchildren, NASCAR, fishing, and was the life of the party making friends wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife, Sheryl of Sweet Home; children, Jamie Koenig of Sweet Home, Richard Koenig of Albany and Jason Koenig of Sweet Home; two brothers, Roger McElhiney of Lebanon and Mike McElhiney of Alaska; a sister, Leslie Koenig of Sweet Home; and 16 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at the Sweet Home VFW Hall.
Huston-Jost Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
