James Jerome Hickey, 89, of Sweet Home passed away Thursday. Nov. 10, 2022.
He was born Sept. 21, 1933, in Dougherty, Iowa, to Sylvester “SJ” and Katherine (Calahan) Hickey.
He graduated from LeRoy High School in LeRoy, Minn.
James served as a corporal in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955, during the Korean War. He married Donna J. Kobbe in Billings, Mont., on Nov. 17, 1956.
James worked as a supervisor for Western Electric for 35 years. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church.
He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and mechanics.
James is survived by his wife, Donna Hickey of Sweet Home; his children, Mary Margaret Kisman of Boise, Idaho, Teresa Kloehn of Eugene, James R. Hickey of South Prairie, Wash., and Richard W. Hickey of Monroe, Wash.; brother Charles P. Hickey of Minnesota; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Hickey, and sister Margaret Stratiff.
Viewing will be at 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 18, at St. Helen Catholic Church. Rosary will follow at 1:30 p.m., with a Funeral Mass at 2 p.m. Placement at Gilliland Cemetery will be at a later date.
