Janet Dee Gordon
October 12, 1935 – March 13, 2024
Janet Dee Gordon, 88, of Sweet Home passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024. She was born in Foster to Leslie Alfred and Myrtle Arietta (Buchanan) Hufford.
Janet was raised in Foster. She moved to Lacomb when she married and raised her family there. In 2008, she returned to the family homestead in Foster.
Her father owned a logging business and Janet helped in a variety of ways and may have been the first woman log truck driver in the area.
She loved her family. Janet loved animals, especially horses. She had cows and milked cows most of her life. Janet loved raising a huge garden and canned and preserved every kind of food. She will be sorely missed at the peeling table. She was a tough and amazing woman.
Janet is survived by her children: Mark Cheshier and Wanda Cheshier Hamar; grandchildren: Edwin Eby, Daniel Stotz, Samantha Stotz: 12 great-grandchildren: Christy, Joseph, Gabby, and Zoey Eby, Carsyn, Ava, Conner, and Caleb Stotz, Natalee and Lilly Perkins, Colton and Carlee Curtis, sisters: Jane Crocker-Strom, Shirley Crocker, Mary Baker. Preceded in death by daughter: Christy Cheshier Eby, son: Leslie Cheshier.
Graveside service where she will be laid to rest on “her hill” will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 19th, at Hufford Family Cemetery on Old Hufford Road. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements. www.sweethomefuneral.com.
