Jared Daniel Ruby, 43, of Sweet Home, died tragically May 4, 2023.
He was born Aug. 15, 1979, in Dallas to Bill and Deb Ruby, the second of their two sons. The Ruby family moved to Craig, Alaska, when the boys were young.
Jared often looked back on that period in his life with very fond memories of family, friends and outdoor adventures. In true Ruby fashion, these were unique and unforgettable experiences.
Eventually, Jared and his parents moved to Sweet Home during Jared’s teen years.
It was there in Sweet Home that a young Angie Meola decided that Jared was going to be her future husband. They were married for almost 23 years and have one daughter, Ashlyn.
Jared’s favorite place to be was in the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, diving, camping, and traveling. His love for creation reflected his love for his heavenly Father Jehovah, motivating him to dedicate his life and be baptized at the tender age of 12.
He worked with his hands as a builder and concrete man, caring and providing for his family with reverence for his role as a husband and a father.
Jared is survived by the loves of his life, wife Angie (Meola) Ruby and 17-year-old daughter Ashlyn; his parents, Bill and Deb Ruby of Lebanon; brother Jason and his wife, Revecca, of Dallas; mother-in-law Dina Black of Sweet Home; sister and brother-in-law Tera and Art Reynolds; brother and sister-in-law Quinton and Melissa Black; and brother-in-law Nick Meola; three nephews; five nieces; and another niece/nephew on the way; aunts, uncles, cousins; and his 1-year-old goofy watch-cat, Theo; along with many other family members, friends and customers who became friends that loved him dearly. His absence will be deeply felt by all.
Jared was well known for his kindness and willingness to drop everything and help those in need. He was definitely one of the good ones.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at Holley Elementary School. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
